Lost your car key? We make a new one at your car, usually the same day.
Einstein Locksmith is a mobile automotive locksmith based in Boca Raton. If you’ve lost the only key to your car, we come to wherever the car is, cut a new key, program it to the vehicle, and you drive away. No tow to a dealership, no waiting days for a key to be shipped, and in most cases no spare key needed to start from.
We do this every day on Honda, Toyota, Ford, Chevy, Nissan, Hyundai, Kia, Jeep, Ram, Mazda, Subaru, Volkswagen, BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Lexus, Acura, Infiniti and more, and we specialize in the high-end jobs other locksmiths turn away, including 2018 and newer Range Rover, Land Rover and Jaguar all-keys-lost, Bentley and Porsche.
Call or text (561) 561-5397. You get a price before we dispatch, and the price you’re quoted is the price you pay.
What we replace
- All keys lost. Every key is gone. We generate a new key from the vehicle itself, cut it, and program it so the car recognizes it. Lost keys are deleted from the car at the same time, so a found key no longer starts it.
- Spare or duplicate keys. You have one key and want a second before you lose it. This is the cheapest key you will ever buy; the all-keys-lost version of the same job costs more and happens at the worst possible time.
- Transponder (chip) keys. The standard key on nearly every car since the late 1990s. The chip in the head has to be programmed to the car, not just the blade cut.
- Smart keys and push-to-start fobs. Proximity keys for keyless-entry and push-button-start cars, including cars where the fob has to be paired through the dealer-level diagnostic system.
- Laser-cut and high-security keys. The thick keys with a wavy groove down the middle (Honda, Toyota, Lexus, VW, BMW, Mercedes, most European and newer Asian cars). Cut on site with a code machine, not traced from a worn key.
- Broken or worn keys. Snapped in the door or ignition, or so worn it no longer turns. We extract the broken piece and cut a fresh key to factory code.
- Keys for older cars and classics. Non-chip keys cut by code from the VIN or the lock itself.
How it works
- Call or text with your year, make and model. Tell us where the car is. We’ll quote the job right then.
- We come to the car. Driveway, office parking lot, the beach, a tow yard. The van carries the key blanks, the cutting machine and the programming equipment, so there is nothing to order.
- We cut and program on site. For all-keys-lost we read the key code from the vehicle, cut the key, then program the chip or fob to the car’s immobilizer. Most jobs take 20 to 60 minutes.
- You start the car. We test every function (start, lock, unlock, trunk, panic) before we leave.
What to have ready
- The vehicle, and your ID. For an all-keys-lost job we need to confirm the car is yours: a driver’s license plus the registration, title, or insurance card in your name.
- The year, make, model and VIN if you have it (it’s on the dashboard at the base of the windshield and on your insurance card).
- Any key you still have, even a broken one or a fob that no longer starts the car.
Dealership vs. Einstein Locksmith
The dealer does not come to you. You tow the car in, they order a key, and you come back when it arrives. Dealer add-a-key quotes we collected in October 2026 ranged from several hundred dollars for a common fob to over a thousand for European smart keys, before the tow. One of our Google reviews puts it plainly: the dealer quoted $435 for a fob that we programmed on site for a fraction of that.
Our price depends on the car, so we quote every job before we come out. It comes in well below the dealer, the key is OEM or OEM-equivalent, and it is programmed with the same factory-level tools the dealer uses.
Where we go
Boca Raton, Delray Beach, Deerfield Beach, Boynton Beach, Pompano Beach, Coral Springs, Highland Beach, Lighthouse Point, Parkland, Coconut Creek, Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach and the rest of Palm Beach and Broward County, roughly a 30-mile radius from Boca Raton. For Range Rover, Land Rover and Jaguar all-keys-lost we travel further; ask.
Frequently asked
Can you make a key if I don’t have any key at all? Yes. That is what all-keys-lost means and it is most of what we do. We work from the vehicle, not from a copy.
Do I have to tow the car to you? No. We are mobile only. There is no shop; the van comes to the car.
How long does it take? Most keys are cut and programmed in 20 to 60 minutes once we arrive. Some late-model European and Jaguar Land Rover vehicles take longer, and occasionally a part has to be ordered; we tell you up front if that’s the case.
Will the new key work exactly like the original? Yes. Remote lock and unlock, trunk, panic, and push-button start all work. We test everything before we leave.
Is it cheaper to go to the dealer? Almost never, and the dealer requires a tow and a wait for parts. Call us with the year, make and model and compare the quotes yourself.
Do you do Range Rover, Land Rover and Jaguar? Yes, including 2018 and newer all-keys-lost with a locked RFA, which most locksmiths and some dealers cannot do. See the Range Rover, Land Rover & Jaguar page.
What are your hours? Monday to Thursday 9am to 10pm, Friday 9am to 2pm, Sunday 10am to 6pm, closed Saturday. After-hours emergency service is available by appointment.
